1. About Halfway

Halfway is a Christian decision companion designed to help people reflect on decisions, identify what is within their responsibility, consider what is outside their control, make commitments, and reflect on Scripture and past decisions.

This Privacy Policy explains how Halfway collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Halfway mobile application, website, and related services.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Halfway, we may collect:

  • Account information: such as your email address, user ID, and optional display name.
  • Conversation content: information you choose to provide while using Halfway's guided reflection experience.
  • Decision and reflection information: including decisions, reflections, commitments, follow-ups, and information associated with your Halfway results.
  • Faith-related information: information about your religious beliefs, values, or faith context that you voluntarily provide through conversations, reflections, profile information, or other use of the service.
  • Memory information: structured information created from your use of Halfway that may include relevant values, themes, preferences, commitments, prior decisions, outcomes, and recurring patterns.
  • Subscription information: information necessary to determine whether Halfway+ access is active. Payment transactions are processed through the applicable app store, and Halfway does not receive your full payment card information.
  • Usage information: information about how features within Halfway are used, such as product interactions and events used to operate, understand, and improve the service.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and manage your Halfway account.
  • Provide Halfway's conversation and decision-reflection features.
  • Generate your Halfway results and related reflections.
  • Provide relevant Scripture and reflection context.
  • Save your decisions, commitments, follow-ups, and journey history.
  • Provide personalized continuity through relevant memories and prior decision context.
  • Operate reminders and follow-up experiences.
  • Determine and manage Halfway+ access.
  • Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
  • Understand how Halfway's features are being used.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Artificial Intelligence Processing

Halfway uses artificial intelligence to provide guided reflection, generate Halfway results, identify relevant themes, and support certain memory and journey features.

Information you submit to these features may be transmitted to service providers that process information on Halfway's behalf in order to generate responses and provide the service.

Halfway is designed to support reflection. It does not claim to know God's will, provide divine revelation, or speak for God.

5. Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate Halfway. Depending on the service being provided, information may be processed by providers such as:

  • Supabase — authentication and database services.
  • OpenAI — artificial intelligence processing.
  • RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
  • Google Play — Android distribution and purchases.
  • Vercel — server and web infrastructure.
  • Expo — mobile application infrastructure and related services.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services to Halfway. Their handling of information is also subject to their applicable terms and privacy practices.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Halfway+ subscriptions purchased through Google Play are processed by Google Play. Halfway uses RevenueCat to help determine subscription entitlement status.

Halfway does not receive or store your complete payment card number from Google Play purchases.

7. Conversations, Memories, and Your Journey

Halfway may retain conversations, decisions, reflections, commitments, follow-ups, memories, and related journey information so that you can revisit prior decisions and receive continuity across future reflections.

Some structured memories may be derived from information you have voluntarily provided. These memories are intended to help Halfway use relevant prior context rather than treating every reflection as an entirely new interaction.

8. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Halfway, maintain your account and history, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain the security and integrity of the service.

You may delete your Halfway account from within the application. When an account deletion request is successfully completed, account data associated with your Halfway account is deleted from Halfway's active application database, subject to limited information that may need to be retained where required by law, security, fraud prevention, transaction records, backup processes, or legitimate legal obligations.

9. Account and Data Deletion

Halfway provides an in-app option to permanently delete your account. You can find this option in your Profile under account management.

You can also review account deletion instructions on our Delete Account & Data page.

Deleting your Halfway account does not automatically cancel an active subscription managed by an app store. App-store subscriptions must be managed or canceled through the applicable store.

10. Your Choices

You control what information you choose to include in your conversations and reflections. You may also update certain account information, manage stored information through available app features, manage your subscription through the applicable app store, or delete your Halfway account.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

12. Sensitive Information

Halfway conversations may involve personal, religious, relational, financial, emotional, or other sensitive topics. You should only provide information that you are comfortable submitting to the service.

Halfway is not intended to serve as a secure repository for passwords, government identification numbers, payment card numbers, or other credentials. Please do not submit that type of information in your conversations.

13. Children

Halfway is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Halfway, contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Halfway evolves or as legal, technical, or operational requirements change. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page.
